The Badminton Tournament, one of the highlights of the 2024 Philippine Professional Organization-Qatar (PPO-Q) Sportsfest, brought together badminton enthusiasts for a thrilling day of competition on October 18, from 10am to 10pm at Park House English School.

Under the dynamic leadership of PPO-Q President Kathryn Fajardo, the event culminated in a spirited display of sportsmanship and unity. It was organized by Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Doha LLC (G).

The event kicked off with a welcome speech by Fajardo, followed by the introduction of participants from various organisations.

Keynote remarks from PPO-Q Chairman Teofilo Tongson set the tone for the tournament, which was officially declared open by PPO-Q Sports Coordinator Charles Canonizado, PEE.

Celebrating its 17th year, PICPA Doha emphasized its mission of “Advancing Excellence, Empowering Professionals, Where Expertise Means Impact,” highlighting the leadership’s commitment to fostering a sense of community among professionals.

The tourney featured various categories for both men and women, showcasing the talents of participants across multiple skill levels.

The overall rankings saw PICPA emerge as the champion, with UAP/PSSE taking the 1st runner-up position.

In the Women’s Normal category, the champions were Gladys and Miluna from UAP/PSSE, while Katherine and Janine from IECEP secured the 1st runner-up spot.

The Starter Category saw Lesly and Arriane from PICHE emerged as champions, with Len and Ruby from PICPA finishing in 1st place.

In the Men’s category, competition was fierce across several levels. In Level F, the champions were James and Lino from PICPA, with Cris and Ching from IIEE SQC taking 1st place.

Jehmar and Bryan from PICPA triumphed in Level E, while Jude and Mon, also from PICPA, finished in 1st place.

Level D champions Abs and Nicks from PICPA were followed by Joevic and Jayson from UAP/PSSE in 1st place.

In Level C, Clinton and Albert from PICEwere declared as champions, with Richard and Arnel from UAP/PSSE taking 1st place.

Special recognition was given to the Most Valuable Players (MVPs), Gladys and Miluna, along with Lesly and Arriane, for their outstanding performances throughout the tournament.

The programme was hosted by SVP Jyerex Abrasado, CPA, CIMA.

The 2024 PPO-Q Sportsfest not only highlighted athletic skill but also reinforced the importance of community and teamwork, making it a memorable event for all involved.

The success of the tournament reflects the dedication of PPO-Q and its leaders to cultivate a vibrant environment for both professional and recreational activities within the community.
