In a vibrant display of talent and community spirit, the ‘Back-to-School Show’ hosted by Tanghalang Overseas Pinoy (TOPi) and Funon Events Qatar on October 18, was a resounding success at the Awsaj Academy Auditorium in Ar-Rayyan.

The family-friendly

musical event drew enthusiastic crowds for both performances, delivering an unforgettable evening of entertainment.

With captivating musical numbers and engaging choreography, the show was designed to celebrate the new school year and honor students of all ages. From heartfelt performances to lively routines, attendees were treated to a showcase that emphasized creativity and artistic expression, resonating with kids, teens, and families alike.

Philippine Ambassador to Qatar HE Lillibeth Pono, alongside First Secretary and Consul General Cassandra Sawadjaan, Third Secretary and Vice-Consul Jeffrey Batac, and other officials from the Philippine Embassy, graced the occasion, highlighting the importance of community engagement through Performing Arts.

“This show was conceptualized as a way of paying tribute to all students and the young at heart. It told the story of the everyday lives of young people, their dreams, and how they enjoyed the many aspects of their school days, showcasing their creativity and artistic talents,” said Overall Director Arch. Marvin Tejada.

“It’s our advocacy to help the younger generation appreciate theatre and provide them with opportunities to explore their talents and get involved in these activities,” he added.

The show featured a medley of beloved songs from musicals and Disney classics, creating an enchanting atmosphere that captivated the audience.

As families left with smiles and cherished memories, the show proved to be more than just an event—it was a celebration of community, creativity, and the joy of learning.

TOPi and Funon Events Qatar proudly showcased Filipino talent in the performing arts. Looking ahead, both organisations are gearing up for more exciting events this year, reinforcing their commitment to enriching the cultural landscape in Qatar.
