Sailing history was written on Saturday as Emirates Team New Zealand won the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup.

OMEGA has been a long-term partner of the New Zealand crew since 1995 and proudly watched as they claimed the ‘Auld Mug’ for the fifth time in history.

This year’s racing took place in Barcelona, where the challenger, INEOS Britannia Team, faced a head-to-head battle with the defender, Emirates Team New Zealand. Having competed over nine races, the New Zealand team eventually claimed a 7-2 winning margin in the first-to-seven series, showing the very best of its tactical precision and innovative boat design.

President and CEO of OMEGA Raynald Aeschlimann said, “The 37th America’s Cup has been a thrilling event, and we are delighted that Emirates Team New Zealand has shown its sailing mastery once again. This crew continues to inspire us at OMEGA, and I’d like to congratulate Grant Dalton and his entire team for the excellence they have shown out on the water.”

Dating back to 1851, the America’s Cup is the oldest trophy in international sport and has become the source of fierce international rivalries and spectacular duels across the years.

OMEGA’s association with the world-famous regatta began in 1995, when the brand supported Emirates Team New Zealand, who were led by the legendary sailor Sir Peter Blake.

Each time Emirates Team New Zealand has won the America’s Cup, OMEGA has been tasked with the Official Timekeeper duties at the following edition.
