During the session, relations between the two friendly countries were discussed, as well as ways to support and develop them in various fields.

The two sides also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest, and the latest developments in the region, especially in the Gaza Strip, the occupied Palestinian territories and Lebanon.

The session was attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Chief of the Amiri Diwan HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Head of the State Security HE Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs HE Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, and a number of senior officials and members of the delegation accompanying His Highness the Amir. On the Italian side, it was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation HE Edmondo Cirielli, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic Dr Ugo Zampetti and a number of senior officials. His Highness the Amir and the Italian president held a bilateral meeting during which they discussed the overall cooperation relations between the two countries, in addition to discussing a number of issues of mutual interest.

His Highness the Amir was accorded an official reception ceremony earlier upon his arrival at the Quirinal Presidential Palace. His Highness the Amir and Italian Prime Minister HE Giorgia Meloni held the official session of talks at Villa Doria Pamphili, in Rome.

At the outset of the session, the prime minister of the Italian Republic, welcomed His Highness the Amir and the accompanying delegation, hoping that the visit of His Highness the Amir would strengthen the relations between the two countries and promote them in wide-ranging fields. For his part, His Highness the Amir thanked the prime minister for the warm reception, underlining that he looks forward to enhancing the solid relationship between the two countries in a variety of fields for the good of the two friendly countries.

During the session, they discussed prospects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and avenues for bolstering them, especially in the areas of economy, investment, energy and defence, the foremost regional and global developments, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip, the occupied Palestinian territories and Lebanon, in addition to stepping up efforts of de-escalation in the Middle East and reaching a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

On the Italian side, the session was attended by Minister of the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Fratin, chief of staff at the prime minister’s office Gaetano Caputi, Diplomatic Advisor to Prime Minister Fabrizio Saggio, Military Adviser to the Prime Minister, Franco Federici, alongside senior officials.

HH the Amir and prime minister of Italy held a bilateral meeting before these talks, during which they discussed their perspectives on a range of regional and global issues.

The prime minister of the Italian Republic held a luncheon banquet in honour of HH the Amir and members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir.
