The Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani attended the official dinner banquet hosted by President of Italy Sergio Mattarella in honour of HH the Amir and his accompanying delegation at the Quirinale Presidential Palace in Rome.

Speaking on the occasion, the Italian president expressed warm welcome to HH the Amir and the accompanying delegation in Rome, and his happiness with the discussions and consultations that took place during the meetings that brought the two sides together, looking forward to this visit contributing to moving relations between the two countries to broader horizons.

In a speech, HH the Amir expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the Italian president for the warm reception he and his accompanying delegation received, praising the discussions that were held during the visit in various fields.

HH the Amir also stressed Qatar’s keenness to continue strengthening bilateral relations to serve the interests of both countries and to cooperate on regional and international issues of common interest.

The official dinner was attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, a number of members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir, businessmen and senior officials.

On the Italian side, it was attended by a number of ministers, businessmen and senior officials.HH the Amir and the Italian president exchanged high medals of both countries at the Quirinale Presidential Palace in the capital, Rome.

HH the Amir was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, the highest order in Italy, in recognition of his efforts in strengthening friendly relations between the two countries.

For his part, HH the Amir presented the Italian president with the Sword of the Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani as an embodiment of his role in supporting and consolidating relations between the two countries.

The Founder’s Sword and the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic are the highest medals in both countries, and are awarded to kings, princes and heads of state.(TNN)
