Merger Mimari is introducing a new brand of Aluminium Composite Panel (ACP) - the FR A2 rated dualBOND Aluminium Composite Panel - into the Qatar market.
Aluminium Composite Panel (ACP) is a widely-used fa?§ade material because of its practicality and availability, as well as the range of colours, different gloss levels and effects it comes in.
Cagri Kurbal, owner of Merger Mimari,"There has been news lately which has raised some questions about the reliability of some products, particularly resistance to fire, and now decision makers are considering replacing their design with monobloc fa?§ade panels rather than composite materials. Such materials, however, provide a very limited choice of surface and colour options; a big concern for innovative architects."
He added,"A standard ACP contains polyester core to make the product financially available and practically workable. However, this plastic core may cause a fire to spread by melting quickly and dropping to other areas and also being smoky may be a recipe for a disaster. DualBOND offers ACP with alternative core options - FR Bs1d0 (Smoke 1 Drop 0) and non-combustible FR A2 certified panels - which have already been in the market and proved itself against tough conditions."
Kurbal reassured those considering dualBOND that the new brand of ACP could be expected to make a difference.
"There is no visual difference between standard ACP and dualBOND FR B1 or FR A2 ACP, as only the core panels have been replaced. This means all colour and surface options are still available with non-combustible panels, something which we believe makes the architects more than happy," he said.
He added,"You may expect dualBOND FR B1 or FR A2 ACP costs more than standard dualBOND core panels and there is of course a price difference reflected per square metre due to different raw materials used and a dissimilar production technique. Still, practically speaking, your overall costs will be lower when you also consider your insurance should cost less with the non-combustible panels."
