Tribune News NetworkDohaThe MES Indian School celebrated the 75th Independence Day of India with patriotic fervour on Monday at the Conference Hall of the school, which was aesthetically decorated with colorful festoons and balloons.Dr Najeeb K.P, president officiating, MES Governing Board, unfurled the Indian National Flag, followed by the singing of India’s National Anthem by the school choir.The school students comprising boys and girls, rendered a special patriotic song depicting the glory of the national movement. In his message, Dr Najeeb K.P highlighted the importance of the day and urged the students to remember the supreme sacrifices of the patriots and martyrs, who laid down their lives in the freedom struggle. He also reminded the students of their responsibility to ensure the unity and integrity of the country.MES Indian School Principal Hameeda Kadar urged the younger generation to follow the ideals taught and lived by the freedom fighters and also advised the children to work towards liberating India from the strong hold of social evils like poverty, corruption and illiteracy. A thematic programme titled ‘Azadi ka Amrith’ depicting the elixir of energy of India’s independence and inspirations of the warriors during the freedom struggle was presented by the students on the occasion.Rizwa Fathima and Aishwarya Nair, members of teaching faculty, welcomed the gathering and proposed a vote of thanks respectively. Fiona Mary D’cruz, teacher from the Department of English, compered the programme. The school’s cultural coordinators choreographed and coordinated the event.Members of the school governing board, the principal, key functionaries of the teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and students attended the Independence Day celebrations of the school.
