Al Ahli coach Igor Biscan said he trusts in his team’s capabilities as they get ready to take on Al Rayyan in crucial Week 8 match of Ooredoo Stars League to be played at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium on Saturday at 7.30pm.

“We will face a strong and experienced team that has played many matches in the league and AFC Champions League Elite. The match will not be easy, but we will play to achieve our goal of winning points,” said Croatian Biscan on Thursday.

Al Ahli are currently second in the standings with 14 points behind leaders Al Duhail (18).

The Brigadiers have notched four wins, two draws and a solitary loss to Al Duhail in their most recent match, which ended in a narrow 0-1 defeat.

“I have confidence in our team’s ability to provide a distinguished level and win the match and thus return to the path of victories in the league. We prepared well for the match and worked to ensure that the team is ready to provide a good performance that achieves the desired result,” stressed Bscan.

“Al Ahli, like in our last match against Al Duhail, will make every effort to get the points, and I am certain that the team will appear better in the match against Al Rayyan. Our focus will be on winning and coming out with the points,” he added.

Al Ahli defender Amin Tihi said, “We are ready physically and technically, and our goal will be to win the match.

“We respect Al Rayyan, they are a big and distinguished team, but we will play to win and return to the path of victories. We lost in the last round and it has become necessary to achieve victory and regain our pride.

Meanwhile, Al Rayyan approach the match with a total of 9 points, currently positioned 8th in the standings having scored three wins alongside four defeats.

In their last outing, Al Rayyan triumphed over Al Khor in Week 7, winning by a score of 2-1. Subsequently, they faced Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia in their third match of 2024-2025 AFC Champions League Elite last Monday at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, where they suffered a 1-2 defeat in a thrilling contest.

Despite a commendable performance in the second half, Al Rayyan were unable to capitalize on the scoring opportunities presented to them.

Both teams are determined to deliver their best performances and accumulate points to enhance their standings in the league.

In other matches on Saturday, Al Shahania will play Al Shamal while Umm Salal will face Al Khor.

On Sunday, defending champions Al Sadd will meet Al Wakrah; Al Duhail will face Al Gharafa, while Al Arabi will play Qatar SC.
