Manateq Economic Zones Company (Manateq) will start offering 250 new plots of land for setting up industrial units like warehouses and assembly plants in Jery Al Samur, Al Wakra and Birkat Al Awamer from early December, a senior official of the company said on Monday.
Addressing Qatari investors and representatives of local firms at a seminar hosted by Qatar Chamber in Doha, Manateq Business Development Director Adel Waly said the industrial land plots would be launched as part of the several new projects to be announced in December.
Areas for the upcoming industrial projects have been selected very carefully so that they are close to the port and key resource areas of the country, he noted.
"Within the land plots, investors can build warehouse or workshop for processing and assembly, commercial showroom for goods and products, and options for a variety of offices and worker accommodation," he said.
These projects, he said, will be vital in reaching 27 million square metres of industry and warehousing land as required in the country for developing world-class business environment that enables domestic and foreign investors to deliver value added products and services to local, regional and international markets.
Manateq currently provides 23 million square metres of land, including 11 million square metres for warehousing land plots and 12 million square metres for industrial land plots, he said, adding that work is progressing on various projects to achieve the required level in the near future.

The plots of land in this logistics parks will be offered at a later stage.
Other than these four logistics parks, Mesaieed Industrial Zone can be another major project for investors, he added.
"It is developed on an area of 12 million square metres. It is located south of Doha and next to Hamad Port, Um Alhoul Free Zone and Al Wakra Logistics Park. It targets sectors of concrete, construction materials, petrochemicals, plastics, metals, machinery, chemical & fertilisers and many other industrial clusters," he said.
Through all these projects, he said, Manateq aims to reduce the overall 'cost of goods' and consequently reduce inflation.
"The rental fees in the logistic areas have been fixed on the basis of standards and calculated at QR40 per square meter per year or QR3 per square meter per month, and the industrial areas are priced at QR20 per meter per year and QR1.6 per meter per month," Waly said.
