The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) presented Bharat Utsav, yet another mega event showcasing India’s cultural heritage, in the iconic Al Mayyassa Hall, QNCC, on October 25.

The grand event was witnessed by a number of Qatari dignitaries, ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps of 18 countries, Indian embassy officials, apex body presidents, members and leaders from all sections of the 800,000-strong Indian expatriate community in Qatar.

Chief Guest of the evening, Ambassador India to Qatar HE Vipul, lauded the hard work and dedication of the ICC management committee, and members of the Indian community in organising such a memorable event, which was a celebration of the rich cultural diversity of different states of India and showcased their tourism potential. In his speech, the ambassador applauded the values that five decades of diplomatic relations and friendship between India and Qatar have always upheld. He also released a souvenir commemorating the occasion.

The guidance and support of First Secretary at the Embassy of India, Dr. Vaibhav Tandale, who was also the coordinating officer, contributed immensely to the grand success of the event.

Speaking on the occasion, ICC President AP Manikantan said that it was an honour and privilege to lead and manage the show, which included more than 42 performances by members of associated organisations, Indian schools and community groups, all carefully chosen and curated. He praised the event for showcasing India’s cultural richness, especially the diverse forms of folk dance, and promoting tourist attractions from all parts of India.

Organising Committee Chair PN Baburajan, with his ability and decades of experience, was the guiding force behind the success of the event.
