DOHA: Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani chaired the inaugural meeting of the General Committee for the Referendum on the Proposed Constitutional Amendments.

The meeting discussed the legal frameworks and organizational procedures for preparing for the referendum from various perspectives, as well as reviewing the logistical measures necessary to facilitate the voting process for all Qatari citizens on the proposed constitutional amendments.

The General Committee for the Referendum on the Proposed Constitutional Amendments was established earlier by an Amiri decreeto organise and manage the referendum and announce its results.

The committee was formedunder the chairmanship of the Minister of Interior, with the membership of the Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, the Minister of State for Interior Affairs, a member of the Shura Council chosen by the Speaker of the Shura Council, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, a judge chosen by the President of Supreme Judiciary Council, and the Director of Elections Department of the Ministry of Interior.

The referndum will take place on Tuesday, November 5.
