Tel AVIVcTypeface:> US envoy Amos Hochstein is to travel to Israel on Thursday for talks to attempt to secure a ceasefire between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah, Israeli media reported.

The White House Middle East coordinator Brett McGurk is also expected to be involved in the talks.

The Israeli army radio station reported on Wednesday that an agreement could be concluded “within days,” citing the Israeli military. There is cautious optimism about a ceasefire, despite previous efforts failing.

According to media reports, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held urgent talks on Tuesday evening on possible ways out of the war.

Meanwhile, at least 11 people were killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes on a town in eastern Lebanon on Wednesday, the country’s Health Ministry said. (DPA)
