The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has signed a five-year cooperation agreement with the Chinese Football Association (CFA) at the football headquarters in Al Bidda Tower on Monday.
Du Zhaocai, Vice-Minister of Sports and Acting President of the Chinese Football Association met with QFA President Sheikh Hamad bin Kahlifa bin Ahmed al Thani, and other top football officials, for the contract ceremony.
The new agreement also brings QFA and CFA closer as they look into ways and means to develop the world’s biggest sport. It is expected that Qatar and China will have exchange programmes between the two countries in various age brackets to develop youth football.
Qatar will also rely on the help from Aspire Academy and Aspetar Sports Medicine Hospital to beef up their exchange programs with CFA.
“I thank Sheikh Hamad, President of the QFA for his warm welcome and I am also pleased to sign the cooperation agreement between the two federations. I look forward to permanent cooperation between the two sides in the coming period. “
“There is no doubt that Qatar has become the leading sports center in Asia. We are proud to be working with a body like the QFA. It is a professionally run sports body that works diligently to develop the sport in Qatar and around Asia,” said Du Zhaocai.
“The agreement will strengthen the cooperation in various fields related to football. We know the experience Qatar has in the field of developing the sport. Their training courses for players, officials, referees and coaches etc are hugely beneficial for the participants,” he added.
“I am impressed by Qatar’s preparations for the 2022 World Cup and I’m confident that it will be able to organise a unique World Cup, especially with its high level of organisational capabilities.”
QFA President meets US Congressman Filemon Vela
President of Qatar Football Association Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al Thani met with US Congressman Filemon Vela in Doha on Monday. He is a democratic representative of the 34th District of Texas, who is visiting the country.
During the meeting, they discussed the distinct relations between the two countries and ways of developing them, particularly in the field of football, as Qatar is set to host the World Cup in in 2022.
The member of the US House of Representatives was briefed on the development of work related to the 2022 World Cup and the readiness of Qatar to host the big football event, which is a historic opportunity to accelerate human and economic development- from caring for workers to the concept of sustainability and legacy.
