SeoulcTypeface:> North Korea has fired an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), the South Korean military and the United States said on Thursday, drawing sharp criticism from both.
North Korea launched the missile towards the East Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan, South Korean news agency Yonhap reported, citing the general staff in Seoul (JCS).
The White House, in a statement released on Wednesday, confirmed the missile launch saying it "strongly condemns” North Korea’s launch of an "intercontinental ballistic missile test. "This launch is a flagrant violation of multiple UN Security Council resolutions,” National Security Council spokesman Sean Savett said in the statement. There was no immediate comment from North Korea. (DPA)
