To mark Qatar Sustainability Week 2024, the Friends of the Environment Center, affiliated with the Ministry of Sports and Youth and committed to fostering environmental awareness among Qatari youth, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kingdom Konsult, a leading consultancy specialising in sustainability and the circular economy. This MoU aims to enhance Qatar’s environmental sustainability initiatives.
Key objectives include strengthening cooperation to provide innovative, sustainable solutions that support environmental preservation, aligning with Qatar’s National Vision 2030. Through this partnership, both parties will promote advanced sustainable practices, focusing on effective waste management solutions and renewable energy initiatives to drive impactful environmental change across Qatar.
This collaboration also aims to enhance resource efficiency and reduce negative environmental impacts, aligning with national strategies for achieving sustainable development.
In addition, the two parties will strive to launch community projects aimed at raising environmental awareness and encouraging individuals to adopt sustainable practices, including initiatives that support recycling, energy conservation, and reducing carbon footprints. By engaging the community and various sectors, this collaboration seeks to foster a shared sense of responsibility in building a more sustainable environmental future for all.
In a statement during the signing ceremony, Farhoud Hadi Al-Hajri, executive director of the Friends of the Environment Center, said: “Our partnership with Kingdom Konsult marks an important step in our journey to protect Qatar’s natural resources. Through this collaboration, we will develop effective programmes that inspire individuals and communities to take environmental responsibility and promote sustainable practices.”
Al-Hajri added, “This partnership is part of our ongoing commitment to raising environmental awareness and implementing innovative solutions that contribute to environmental protection and sustainable development in Qatar.”
For her part, Catina Aghayan, CEO of Kingdom Konsult, stated: “This memorandum aligns perfectly with our vision for a sustainable future. We are confident that collaborating with the Friends of the Environment Center will enable us to lead initiatives that bring tangible benefits not only to our clients but also create a lasting positive impact on the environment in the region.”
