Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar claimed six wickets, including three wickets in one single over, to hand Afghanistan a famous 92-win over Bangladesh in the first ODI at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
Bangladesh were 120 for 2 but lost eight wickets for just 23 runs succumbing to spin.
Ghazanfar bowled just 6.3 overs where he gave away 26 runs. He claimed the wickets of Tanzid Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mushfiqur Rahim, Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam.
Earlier, Mohammed Nabi played a handy knock of 84 runs to help Afghanistan get to 235 in the first of the three-match ODI series. The team were 36 for 4 at one stage but managed to bat their way out of trouble after opting to bat first.
The Afghans, led by Hashmatullah Shahidi, are running a superb streak of form having trounced heavyweights South Africa 2-1 recently in the UAE.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh have been on a poor streak and are eyeing a reset in the Emirate.
Led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, who was reluctant to continue his captaincy stint from this series, the Tigers are eyeing their first win since August against a potent Afghanistan side.
