THE Ambassador of Germany to the State of Qatar HE Hans-Udo Muzel attended the 10th anniversary celebrations of the German International School
Doha (DISD).
Speaking on the occasion, the ambassador said: "The 10th anniversary of the German International School Doha is one of the most prominent examples of the very successful partnership in the field of education between Germany and Qatar.”
"We are very grateful for the extraordinary cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar, whose continued generous support makes it possible to bring quality German education to Qatar. In this respect, I am very proud that the German International School Doha has just been awarded the quality seal ‘Excellent German Overseas School’ by the German government for providing outstanding school education from Kindergarten to Grade 12”, he
added further.
Prominent among those who attended the celebrations were the Ambassador of Austria to Qatar HE Willy Kempel, Ambassador of Switzerland HE Edgar D?rig and the Director of Private Schools Affairs in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Rawda al Zaidan.
In his opening speech at the anniversary celebrations,the Principal of the school Dirk Dillschneider acquainted the invitees with the achievements of the school in the last 10 years.
Dillschneider added: "In 10 years, the DISD has established itself as a model of success among international schools in Qatar. It has undergone massive expansion and boasts today of having 314 pupils of 28 different nationalities. All its students have graduated successfully every year. In the last school year, the first graduation year of the International Diploma Program, all students attained their certificates.”
He further pointed out that the DISD has a language concept that includes German, English, Arabic and French. "The DISD is a language-oriented educational institution with German qualities, values and traditions, which leads the students to a German higher education entrance qualification and beyond to an international university entrance qualification”, Dillschnieder remarked.
The principal also praised the dedicated team of teachers and other staff as well as the coordination between them and the parents of the students.
Dillschneider also expressed his gratitude to the German Embassy and the Qatar Government for
their support.
