Philippine School Doha (PSD) Principal Dr Alexander Acosta brought to the fore the milestone of the educational institution during its annual ‘Field Demonstration’ held on the occasion of the school’s 26th founding day anniversary at the Al Rayyan Sports Club on Friday.
The event with the theme “Ascending to greater learning heights” also celebrated the talented pool of students of PSD in primary, intermediate, junior high school and senior high school levels.
“For 26 years of its existence, the Philippine School Doha continues to flourish. Its laurels of success are constant reminders of its struggles to overcome the challenges along the way and are living proofs that we always ride out the storm, remain resilient and God-dependent at all times. What the school represents is the shared effort of both the current and former BOTs and most especially our forebears who rose to respond to the educational demands of the growing population of Filipinos in Qatar. True enough, after those years of traversing the bumpy and rough roads to realising this dream, the brave Bobby Abit and the rest of our school founders can proudly say that their efforts were not wasted and it was all worth it,” Acosta remarked on the occasion.
“As a sign of gratitude and admiration for their heroic deeds, this fun and frolic, this annual field demonstration has been conceptualised as part of the one-year activity of celebrating PSD @ 26 with its theme, “Ascending to greater learning heights” hosted by the pre-school department under the leadership of Dr Nida Garcia supported by her committed and dedicated teachers. My vote of thanks goes to the pre-school department for coming up with this colourful celebration of ‘mixed world’ highlighting the diverse cultures of the different countries across the globe. Equally significant and worth mentioning is the effort of other departments who have contributed so much to the success of this celebration,” he added.
During the performances, Grade 3 was named as the champions in the primary-level category while Grade 1 and Grade 2 were placed first and second, respectively. In the intermediate category, Grade 6 students wowed the judges and the crowd the most and were proclaimed as champions. Grade 4 finished in the first place while Grade 5 clinched the second place.
Grade 8 topped in the
junior high school category followed by Grade 7 and
Grade 9. While Grade 10 was named as the champions in the senior high school category, Grade 12 and Grade 11
offered a lively competition. Qatar Tribune was the
media partner of this event.
