DOHA: The State of Qatar has condemned in the strongest terms the statements made by the Minister of Finance in the Israeli occupation government, that included instructions to prepare the infrastructure required to annex the occupied West Bank.
The State of Qatar considered such statements a blatant violation of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2334, and a dangerous escalation that would hinder the chances of peace in the region, particularly amid the ongoing brutal war on the Gaza Strip and its devastating consequences.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the need for the international community to strongly confront the colonial, settlement, and racist policies of the Israeli occupation, as well as its repeated violations of the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, particularly its ongoing crimes in the West Bank, including violations of religious sanctities and its schemes to Judaize Jerusalem. The statement also reiterated the urgent need for international solidarity, more than ever, to achieve the two-state solution that paves the way for a just and lasting peace in the region.
The Ministry stressed that repeated Israeli statements in violation of international laws and resolutions clearly demonstrate that the occupation is the primary obstacle to any efforts for peace and stability.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the State of Qatar's firm and consistent stance in supporting the Palestinian cause and the steadfastness of the brotherly Palestinian people, based on international legitimacy and the two-state solution, which ensures the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
