DOHA: The countdown has begun as Qatar prepares to host the highly anticipated FIFA Intercontinental Cup 2024.

The organising committee has announced its full readiness to stage the final three matches of this prestigious international tournament, with ticket sales set to kick off on Thursday, November 21, via FIFA’s official ticketing platform.

Visa cardholders will enjoy exclusive early access to ticket sales starting November 14, a full week before the general release.

Scheduled to run from December 11 to 18, the tournament marks the first edition in its new format, bringing together champions from different continents to compete for three significant titles: the FIFA Americas Derby on December 11, the FIFA Challenge Cup Qatar 2024 on December 14, and the grand finale—the FIFA Intercontinental Cup 2024—on December 18 at Lusail Stadium.

This iconic venue, which holds 88,600 spectators, gained global recognition for hosting the historic final of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, praised as the best modern edition of the tournament.

Hassan Rabia Al-Kuwari, Executive Director of Commercial Affairs, Marketing, and Events for the tournament’s organizing committee, spoke on the occasion, saying, “Once again, the world’s eyes turn to Qatar, reaffirming its position as a leading global sports capital. We are prepared to welcome some of the world’s most esteemed clubs and football stars. The final at Lusail Stadium on December 18 will be a special celebration, coinciding with the second anniversary of the World Cup that put Qatar on the global sports map.”

Following the massive success of the 2022 World Cup, Qatar’s commitment to hosting world-class sporting events continues.

Fans can look forward to the return of the electric atmosphere seen during that unforgettable tournament, enhanced by Qatar’s renowned hospitality and top-of-the-line infrastructure designed for a smooth, memorable experience.

The lineup for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup 2024includes Egypt’s Al Ahly, the 2024 CAF Champions League champion, Mexico’s CF Pachuca, the CONCACAF Champions Cup winner, and Real Madrid, the current UEFA Champions League holder.

The Copa Libertadores champion, to be decided by the end of November, will also join the competition. Knockout stage eliminations have already seen the exit of the UAE’s Al Ain, the AFC Champions League winner, and New Zealand’s Auckland City, the OFC Champions League titleholder.

Matches will be held at both Lusail Stadium and Stadium 974, both lauded for their accessibility and legacy from the 2022 World Cup. Each venue offers various seating options, including facilities for fans with disabilities.

Fans can purchase up to six tickets each, and FIFA will launch a ticket resale platform at a later date. Only tickets obtained through FIFA’s official ticketing system will be valid for entry.
