Minister of Environment and Climate Change HE Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie headed Qatar’s delegation participating in the opening session of World Leaders Climate Action Summit at COP29. On the sidelines of the conference, Al Subaie met with a number of officials from Iran and Japan.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the summit which on the first day witnessed the reception of heads of state and government, and heads of delegations participating in 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), being held in Baku from November 11 to 22, 2024.

Qatar pays special attention to the issue of climate change, through its commitment to its international pledges, especially the Paris Agreement and related international agreements.

QNV 2030 aims to address climate change by diversifying the Qatari economy, enhancing capacity building, and improving the use of the country’s natural resources in a sustainable manner, in line with the UN’s SDGs. Qatar has launched a set of national policies to confront and adapt to the effects of climate change, adopted strategic plans and executive programmes to cut emissions that cause climate change.
