The Embassy of Hungary in Doha, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, organised on Tuesday evening the ‘NEXT’ Hungarian-Qatari business matchmaking forum followed by a B2B business dinner at the Diplomatic Club Doha.

The two-day visit of the Hungarian delegation was supported by Mohammed Al Mohannadi, acting CEO and Jose Iralde, Chief Strategy Officer of Hassad Food. The visiting delegates included heads of companies from the Hungarian food and agriculture sector that produce canned vegetables, and pasta products, and expertise in seed processing and applying AI technology in leaf-level farming.

The Hungarian Export Promotion Agency (HEPA) also delegated participants to meet key Qatari players in the food industry.

Both sides discussed and looked into the possibilities of support and the huge potential in new areas for future cooperation and to learn more from each other about the latest industrial trends in the two countries.

An embassy statement said that the event is in line with its ongoing efforts to promote economic cooperation between Hungary and Qatar and enhance the prospects for mutually beneficial partnerships.

The statement further added that the Hungarian delegation has successfully concluded their two-day visit to Doha during which they introduced their innovative products and services.

At the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI), Ali Saeed Bu Sharbak Al Mansori, acting general manager, warmly welcomed the delegation which later also visited the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) and the headquarters of key industry players Hassad Food, AlKhalaf Group, Lulu, and Lifco.

The statement said that the innovative technologies showcased by the Hungarian guests have garnered significant interest from Qatari industry experts, especially during their visit to Hassad’s vegetable and fodder farms.

The B2B meetings have been very productive, generating exciting opportunities for future cooperation between the two countries, the statement noted.

Ms. Kata PÁL, the Trade and Economic Attaché at the Embassy of Hungary, was hopeful that “this visit will lead to further business engagements and partnerships between Hungarian and Qatari companies in the agritech and food industry”.

The statement concluded by mentioning that the Hungarian delegation’s visit was a great success, strengthening the already strong ties between Hungary and Qatar, and opening up new avenues for collaboration.
