Return To Senders, in the colours of Nasser Saeed MS Al Eida, won the Rowdat Rashid Cup at the Al Rayyan Racecourse on Wednesday.
The Jassim Ghazali-trained seven-year-old bay quickened up smartly inside the final strides under Marco Casamento and got up to win with a nose to spare ahead of Salem Fadgam Al Hajri and Sons’ Secret Victory.
Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi, QREC Racing Manager, presented the trophies to the winners.
In the penultimate race of the day, Jassim Bin Ali MA Al Attiyah’s Keel Bay won the 1200m race for the three-year-old+ Thoroughbred Fillies and Mares.
Jockey Tomas Lukasek also completed a that-trick of win as he guided Sharida bin Nasser bin Sharida Al Kaabi-owned and Hamad Al Jehani-trained Roma to the Local Purebred Arabian Handicap (65-90) (Fillies & Mares) race for three-year-old+.
Earlier in the day, Lukasek rode Khalid Rashid GK Al Mohannadi-owned and Rashid Al Jehani-trained Blazing Sunset to victory in the 1900m race for the three-year-old+ Thoroughbred Handicap (55-75). Lukasek was in the winners’ enclosure as he won the 1200m card-opener - Local Thoroughbred Handicap (40-60) for three-year-old+ – with Injaaz Stud’s Mutamarrid by a margin of five lengths and a quarter.
