The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), in cooperation with Al-Attiya Motors and Trading Company, Qatar’s Kia dealership, has announced the recall of 2011-2017 Kia Rio models. The recall addresses a potential issue with the HECU, which may experience an internal electrical short circuit that could result in overcurrent, increasing the risk of an engine compartment fire while the vehicle is either driven or parked.

The ministry said the recall campaign comes within the framework of its ongoing efforts to protect consumers and ensure that car dealers follow up on vehicle defects and repairs. The ministry said it would coordinate with the dealer to follow up on the maintenance and repair works.(TNN)
