The clinic operated by Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) from Qatari clinics at the Zatari Syrian Refugee Camp in Jordan continues to provide primary healthcare services for inhabitants, under a project implemented by QRCS with funding from the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD).
Over the first year of the project, a total of 31,000 beneficiaries visited the clinics.
The clinics are run by 44 employees, including management, health educators, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, lab technicians, and supportive staff - registration, reception, security, janitors, maintenance, driver. From November 2023 to October 2024, the clinics were visited by an average of 4,365 patients per month and all of them were provided top-quality diagnostic and treatment services.
Within year one, some expansions and improvements were made to the Qatari clinics, including compartment installation to ensure weather protection; construction of new warehouses for medical supplies and waste; creation of a new lab, extra offices, lecture room for health education, kids area, and breastfeeding room; maintenance of all A/C machines, power supply, water supply, and sanitation infrastructure in all facilities; and upgrading of medical equipment.
The patients with certain specialist health conditions not covered by the Qatari clinics are referred to other healthcare providers at the camp, such as ophthalmology, orthopaedics, ENT, etc.
The QRCS clinic at the Zatari Camp implements significant health programmes with funding from QFFD, and in cooperation with many partners. These include a mammography programme for breast cancer early detection, integrated community behaviour change project for women’s health, asthma treatment and prevention programme, and parasite control and prevention programme.
Established in mid-2014, the QRCS clinic comprises the registration unit, nursing clinic, GP clinic, internal medicine and chronic diseases clinic, paediatrics clinic, gynaecology clinics, dental clinics, dermatology clinic, vaccination clinic, pharmacy, and lab.
