Mick Schumacher has expressed disappointment that his return to Formula One has not happened again but he still hopes to make it back into the elite series. Schumacher, 25, drove for Haas in 2021 and 2022 but was then not retained and has since not found a new permanent place in F1. His last chance for 2025 ended recently when Sauber named Brazilian rookie Gabriel Bortoleto their new driver alongside experienced German Nico Hülkenberg. "Life doesn’t always go as planned, and setbacks can be tough to face,” Schumacher said on his Instagram story on Sunday. "But every challenge is a chance to learn, grow, and come back even stronger. This is just a chapter, not the whole story. The journey continues and I am determined to rise above it.”Schumacher, the son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, was a candidate at Sauber who will turn an Audi works team in 2026. But for now he must be content with his role as Mercedes reserve driver. He also competed for Alpine in the Endurance World Championship this year. (DPA)
