Assets of Qatari banks rose almost 5 percent to QR1.393 trillion in November this year from QR1.332 trillion in the same month last year, Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has said in its latest report.
Assets of the banks also went up in November when compared with previous month’s QR1.38 trillion.
Assets of Qatari banks outside Qatar increased to QR224.58 billion in November from QR223.35 billion in the same month last year and QR221.62 billion in October this year.
Assets of banks inside Qatar also increased to QR1.168 trillion in November from QR1.1 trillion in the same month of the previous year and QR1.162 trillion in the previous month.
Cash and value of precious metals grew to QR10.72 billion in November as compared to QR9.31 billion in the same month of the previous year, the report said.
On a month-on-month basis also it increased marginally from QR10.62 billion in October this year.
Reserves of Qatari banks rose to QR36.52 billion in November from QR35.87 billion in the same month last year.
The report said bank lending in Qatar increased to QR940.75 billion in November from QR921.28 billion in the same month last year.
On a monthly basis also, loans increased in November as compared to QR937.39 billion in October.
The central bank attributed the monthly lending increase to rise in public sector’s credit facilities, which went rose to QR347 billion November from QR342.7 billion in the previous month.
Bank lending for private sector, however, declined marginally from QR579. 88 billion in October to QR578.73 billion in November this year.
Meanwhile, bank credit to non-banking financial institutions operating in the country rose marginally to QR14.96 billion in November from QR14.90 billion in the previous month.
Deposits at banks operating in Qatar declined in November, the report said.
Total deposits amounted to QR794.08 billion in November, compared to QR802 billion in the same month last year and QR806 billion in the previous month.
Witnessing a marginal increase, the value of sukuk issued by Islamic banks in the country rose to QR65.41 billion from QR64.44 billion in the previous months.
