The Kenyan Green Maasai troupe has touted the natural beauty in the East African nation as a major attraction, and it recently held a series of awareness events to mark World Tourism Day.
Blessed with some of the world’s best and most attractive natural habitats, Kenya remains a top destination for tourists, with places like the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Safari trips, Mount Kilimanjaro and several attractive spots a major draw for visitors.
“We have been volunteering for the UN and always campaign on international days. We are focused on World Tourism Day because tourism is essential to our country’s economy. That’s why we take advantage of having such an event to market Kenya. Doing this Qatar doesn’t only highlight the strong relationship between Qatar and
Kenya, but it’s a global movement for us to attract more people to Kenya,” said Green Maasai troupe leader Zacchaeus Njuguna.
As part of the activities, the Kenyan Green Maasai Qatar group visited the Flag Plaza, hosted a group discussion on how to continue promoting tourism between Kenya and Qatar, and also visited the Hamad Doha Port Aquarium.
A recent report by the tourism ministry disclosed that revenue from tourism in Kenya jumped nearly a third in 2023 over the previous year, beating the pre-pandemic numbers.
The report said revenue rose 31.5 percent last year to nearly $2.7 billion.
“Our goal is to promote peace and tranquillity by showcasing Kenya’s culture to the world. Tourism is huge in Kenya and Qatar and we want people to explore both countries and discover the diverse tourist attractions in Qatar and Kenya,” a group member, Wycief Yamina, added.
