Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations HE Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani and Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Al Hanzab met with UN Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director of the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate Natalia Gherman at the UN headquarters in New York.
Discussions during the meeting focused on enhancing the partnership between Qatar and the United Nations in counter-terrorism efforts, particularly in supporting programmes and initiatives aimed at preventing violent extremism and addressing its root causes through sustainable development and education.
The talks also explored avenues of cooperation between Qatar and the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate, and the efforts to strengthen member states’ capabilities in tackling terrorism-related challenges and combating terrorism in all its forms.
Gherman commended Qatar’s leading role in supporting initiatives to combat terrorism and its commitment to promoting international peace and security.
