The Central Municipal Council (CMC) has recommended imposing more restrictions on shisha lounges and cafes.
This came during the CMC meeting on Tuesday.
The recommendation was re-sent to the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) to amend the rules and regulations for shisha cafes, which clearly suggest banning of the private chambers inside.
It also includes obliging cafes to make partitions dividing the café to be transparent to facilitate the job of inspectors.
These measures are aimed at curbing shisha smoking by minors.
Moreover, the CMC also discussed decreasing the number of roundabouts, especially on highways, and submitted the recommendation to the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) to convert roundabouts on highways into tunnels or bridges.
