As the 2024 Formula One season draws to a close, the teams have set up their bases in Qatar to compete in the penultimate race of the season. Ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix, on the Lusail International Circuit, George Russell took time out of his busy schedule to visit the local IWC boutique at Place Vendôme Mall. Located in Lusail City, this mall is considered one of Doha’s top shopping destinations and brings together luxury, fashion and entertainment. IWC’s boutique was inaugurated in 2022 and offers a welcoming environment to discover the brand’s collections such as the Pilot’s Watches, the Portugieser, the Portofino and the Ingenieur.

During his visit, the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team driver greeted the guests and took a tour in the boutique. The Briton, who began his racing career in karting in 2006 and joined the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One in 2022, shared fascinating insights into his sport. He talked about what it means to compete at the pinnacle of motorsport and how he manages to turn pressure into motivation to be at the top of his game in each race. He also recalled the moment he crossed the finish line at the Formula One Qatar Airways Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg earlier this year, where he took first place.

During his visit to the IWC boutique, George Russell wore the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team. This performance-oriented chronograph features a case and crown made of Ceratanium, an IWC-developed lightweight material that combines the robustness of titanium with a hardness and scratch-resistance similar to ceramic.

This is also the first chronograph from IWC to feature a tachymeter scale. This innovative functional feature allows the wearer to determine the average speed over a reference distance of one km, adding the dimension of speed to the chronograph’s high-precision stop-time measurements.
