TRIBUNE NEWS NETWORKDOHAQatar Charity (QC) has launched ‘Soqya’, an annual water project, to assist outdoor workers to stay hydrated while performing their jobs in the heat of the sun during the summer.This project is being carried out by delivering water and dates to workers at their workplaces, as well as creating awareness about avoiding the damaging effects of the sun and drinking adequate water.The initiative intends to deliver 52,000 bottles of water, as well as dates and water containers. The project is intended to help around 5,000 municipalities and construction employees across the country.Qatar Charity, in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipality’s Department of Agricultural Affairs, NologyStore, and Al Kawther Water Treatment (Qatarat), distributed nearly 10,000 bottles of water, 700 cartons of dates, and 200 water containers to workers in the Umm Salal municipality and industrial area.Abdul Rahman Muhammad Al-Hajri, Director of Programs and Community Development at Qatar Charity, commended the Ministry of Municipality, NologyStore, and Qatarat for their contributions to this worker-supporting project.“This annual Qatar Charity project comes to keep the workers hydrated and assist them protect themselves from the ill impacts of summer heat,” Al-Hajri explained. “Through this project, Qatar Charity intends to reinforce the ideals of solidarity, establish a connection between philanthropists and workers who have made constant efforts in the country’s growth, and increase engagement with the government and business sectors.” He also stated that the project’s goal is to build the community’s social fiber.Zaid Al Qatami, CEO of NologyStore, expressed his satisfaction in working with Qatar Charity to distribute water containers to workers in order to assist them throughout the hot summer months. He expressed the company’s intention to partner with Qatar Charity in the future to develop initiatives and campaigns, allowing the company to benefit from Qatar Charity’s expertise in humanitarian and charity work.“Our participation in the project is part of our solid partnership with Qatar Charity,” Rawan Baasher, marketing manager of Al Kawther Water Treatment (Qatarat) and Alfahad Food Product Factory (Q-Bisc), said. “This is to support the outdoor workers during the summer,” she added. She emphasised the factories’ desire to strengthen and expand their collaboration with Qatar Charity in the future.
