The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), in collaboration with Al-Attiya Motors and Trading Company, Qatar’s Kia dealership, has announced the recall of Kia Sorento 2010–2015 models and Kia Soul 2010–2013 models. The recall is due to a defect in the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU), which may experience an internal electrical short circuit, potentially causing overcurrent and increasing the risk of an engine compartment fire while the vehicle is in operation or parked.
The MoCI, in collaboration with Al Abdulghani Motors, Qatar’s Lexus and Toyota dealership, has also recalled the 2024 models of Lexus LX, Lexus ES and Toyota Land Cruiser. The recall addresses an issue with the improper programming of the system’s Data Communication Module (DCM), which causes the connected service functions to become inoperative after a certain period from the initial activation of the system, with the exception of the Safety Connect function.(TNN)
