The Qatar Tennis Federation on Monday signed a new agreement with Doha Bank, making the bank an official sponsor of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2025 and which will extend for three years.
The Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2025 which will now be an ATP 500 category tournament is scheduled for February 17-22, 2025. The Qatar tournament was recently upgraded from ATP 250 to ATP 500.
The agreement was signed by Tariq Zainal, Secretary-General of Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation, and Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Fahad bin Faisal Al Thani, Group CEO of Doha Bank, in the presence of representatives of both organizations.
Speaking on the occasion, Tariq Zainal, Secretary-General of Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation, stressed that while the Qatar ExxonMobil Open has been upgraded to ATP 500 which it deserved to have been so long ago, players from across the globe feel that Qatar deserves to be ATP 1000.
“Players and officials from across the globe who have participating in Doha have always been telling us that Qatar deserves to be a 1000 category and we expect to be there soon,” said Tariq Zainal.
He added, “We are honoured to have Doha Bank on board as an official sponsor for the tournament and we hope for top players to be participating and we shall be releasing the players’ list soon. We hope for top players to be participating at Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2025.”
On the association with Doha Bank, he said, “We are pleased with this agreement which will serve as a starting point for a fruitful and long-lasting collaboration with Doha Bank. We are confident that it will further bolster the success of this prestigious tournament, considered one of the most prominent sporting events in the region and the world.”
Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Fahad bin Faisal Al Thani, Group CEO of Doha Bank, welcomed the partnership with Qatar ExxonMobil Open, and said, “It will add value for Doha Bank.At Doha Bank, we are proud to collaborate with the Qatar tennis Federation in supporting sports and athletes in Qatar. The Qatar ExxonMobil Open is a premier men’s tennis events on the global calendar and attracts players from around the world. The tournament was this year upgraded from ATP 250 to ATP 500 event after 32 years since its inception in Qatar. The upgrade is expected to upgrade the level of competition in the 2025 edition, with high expectations for further success for the major sporting tournament.
The agreement between QTF and Doha Bank is another step in cooperation between sports and financial sectors in Qatar, in line with the nation’s leadership in hosting world-class events.
