Official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Dr Majed bin Mohammad Al Ansari has reiterated Qatar’s clear stance on Syria, emphasizing that the Syrian people are at the center of its policy.
During the weekly media briefing, Dr Al Ansari said, "Qatar reiterates its clear stance on Syria, emphasizing that the Syrian people are at the center of its policy. It calls for dialogue and negotiations based on the GenevaCommuniqué and UN Security Council Resolution 2254 to end the conflict in a way that honors the sacrifices and aspirations of the Syrian people.”
Expressing deep concern over current developments and civilian casualties, Dr Al Ansari said, "Qatar urges all parties to de-escalate immediately, cease hostilities, and ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those in need without obstruction.”
He affirmed that military solutions are not sustainable.
Dr Al Ansari said Qatar supports any initiative leading to peace in Syria and is coordinating with regional and international partners to achieve a positive outcome.
On Gaza mediation, Dr Al Ansari said, "Qatar maintains its suspension of mediation efforts pending both parties’ seriousness in returning to the negotiation table. Despite this, Qatar continues its regional and international contacts to promote de-escalation, facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and coordinate positions with partners.”
He said officials are engaged in daily communications with counterparts to ensure alignment on these critical issues.
"The focus remains on delivering aid to those in need in Gaza and supporting the ongoing de-escalation in Lebanon. The suspension applies solely to the mediation process itself, while regional communications and collaborations persist unabated,” he added.
