The Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Consort of HH the Amir HH Sheikha Jowaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani on Tuesday arrived at the Royal Horse Guards Parade in London, as part of their state visit to the United Kingdom at the invitation of HM King Charles III.
On their arrival at the Royal Court, they were welcomed by HM King Charles III, Prime Minister Keir Starmer and a number of ministers, Lords, military generals, and senior officials.
The reception ceremony began with the royal salute and the playing of the national anthem of Qatar, after which HH the Amir, accompanied by HM King Charles III, inspected the Royal Guard of Honour.
After that, HM King Charles III accompanied HH the Amir and HH Consort of HH the Amir to the Buckingham Palace in traditional royal carriages, while the Qatari and British national anthems were played in salute to Their Highnesses, and the Royal Artillery fired 82 rounds.
HM King Charles III presented HH the Amir with the Knight Grand Cross, the highest British Order, in appreciation of the distinguished relations between the two countries. In turn, HH the Amir presented HM King Charles III with the Sword of the Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, the highest decoration in the country.
Consort of HH the Amir HH Sheikha Jowaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani attended the decoration exchange ceremony, which was held at the Buckingham Palace.
HH the Amir and HH Consort of HH the Amir also attended the official luncheon banquet hosted by HM King Charles III and HM Queen Camilla at the Buckingham Palace in their honour and their accompanying official delegation.
The ceremony, exchange of decorations, and luncheon banquet were attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and a number of members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir.
On the British side, they were attended by HRH Prince William of Wales, HRH Princess Catherine of Wales, and a number of royal family members. Earlier on the day, HRH Prince William of Wales and HRH Princess Catherine of Wales accompanied HH the Amir and HH Sheikha Jowaher from their residence to the reception ceremony.
