His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held official talks with Prime Minister of the United Kingdom HE Sir Keir Starmer in Downing Street on Wednesday.
Both sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to boost them alongside ways to benefit at all levels from the opportunities available to both nations, especially in economy, investment, education and defense.
They also took stock of regional and international issues of common concern, particularly the developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.
At the beginning, HH the Amir expressed his thanks to Starmer for the warm reception, expressing his happiness with the visit that allowed him to meet HM King Charles III and the royal family.
HH the Amir said that he would discuss with the Prime Minister opportunities to strengthen cooperation and the latest developments in Gaza and the Middle East.
Starmer expressed his warm welcome to HH the Amir and the accompanying delegation and his happiness with His Highness’s first visit after he assumed the premiership, stressing the depth of relations between the two countries.
The session was attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Chief of the Amiri Diwan HE Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Minister of Finance HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of State for Energy Affairs HE Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al Thani, and members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir.
On the British side, it was attended by Chancellor of the Exchequer HE Rachel Reeves, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero HE Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Defense HE John Healey along with senior officials.
