DOHA: In implementation of the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to operate an air bridge to bring aid to the brotherly people of Syria, the Permanent Committee for Rescue, Relief and Humanitarian Aid in the disaster-stricken areas of brotherly and friendly countries, emphasized that the total humanitarian aid provided to the Syrians has reached approximately 55 tonnes.
The Committee stated that the humanitarian aid delivered with the participation of a team from the Qatari International Search and Rescue Group, of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), included food and medical items, along with shelter supplies.
It added that, on Tuesday, an aircraft of the Qatar Armed Forces arrived at Marka military airport in Jordan with nearly 27 tonnes of aid onboard, while last Monday the first aircraft with Qatari aid bound for the Syrians arrived at Gaziantep Airport in the Republic of Turkiye with approximately 28 tonnes of humanitarian aid onboard.
In addition, the Committee undertakes the oversight mission of delivering humanitarian aid and follows up on it, stemming from its role as an entity responsible for the State of Qatar-led rescue and relief operations.
The aid efforts come within the State of Qatar's supportive position for Syria and to consistently stand with the brotherly people of Syria.
