DOHA: Under the slogan 'In love of the homeland', and in the presence of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education HE DrIbrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, the Ministry celebrated the National Day of the State, which falls on December 18 every year.
The celebration aims to highlight the values of loyalty and belonging to the homeland and enhance them among the youth on the day of pride and honor, whose foundations were laid by Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, the founder of the modern State of Qatar.
The celebration was held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Al Qatifiya, with the participation of male and female students, teachers and Ministry employees, where the Ministry’s buildings were decorated with the Qatari flag, and employees wore traditional clothes and were draped with the flag, expressing their love and pride for Qatar.
The program of the ceremony, which began with the national anthem and a fragrant recitation from the Holy Quran, included a group of distinguished segments presented by kindergarten children. Cultural competitions and an accompanying art exhibition entitled “In Love with Qatar” were also held on the sidelines of the celebration, in addition to an exhibition of traditional clothing, which aims to introduce the aesthetics of traditional clothing.
In a press statement, Dr Al Nuaimi expressed his pride and honour in Qatar’s celebration of its National Day – the Day of Solidarity and Loyalty – at a time when it is at the peak of its political leadership at the international level and its economic prosperity according to global standards.
He also referred to the scientific renaissance that Qatar is witnessing in public and university education. Dr Al Nuaimi stressed that the National Day, with its symbolism and profound meanings, represents a source of inspiration for a better tomorrow and embodies a milestone in Qatar’s modern history, saying: “On this day, we celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the state under the leadership of Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani – may God have mercy on him – in 1878, which began the era of modernization and building the Qatari society that we live in and witness its prosperity now.”
At the end of his statement, he extended his highest congratulations and blessings to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for the remarkable achievements made in various fields, wishing the people of Qatar excellence in the final exams of the first semester of the academic year 2024-2025, praying to God to bless Qatar and its people, and increase its prosperity and progress.
In her speech during the celebration, Assistant Director of Schools and Students Affairs Department,Fatima Al Obaidli stressed that the National Day embodies the meanings of national unity and pride in the Qatari identity. She also reviewed the activities and events that the Ministry has been organizing to enhance the spirit of loyalty and belonging, such as: national operettas and participation in Darb Al Saai events.
In addition to organizing school exhibitions such as “Qatar in the Eyes of its Students,” which highlights students’ vision of their country.
On the sidelines of the celebration, Al Sadu tents were set up in different places in the ministry, which served as gathering places for employees to exchange congratulations and national feelings and taste popular Qatari foods. The celebration also included organizing a national cultural competition, and the attendees interacted with the questions enthusiastically, and the winners received symbolic prizes in return for their interaction and participation.
The Ministry’s employees expressed their pride and appreciation for the National Day, which represents for them a day to strengthen the national identity and highlight the country’s development achievements. In this context, Mona Al Kuwari, Advisor at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, said that the National Day means to her pride in the glories, in what the first generation achieved, and in the great achievements we now see from the wise leadership. She added: It means to me a sense of pride that I belong to this generous land.
Ibrahim Yousef Al-Badr, Head of the Equipment Department at Information Systems Technology, said that the National Day signifies to him the bond between the people and the wise leadership, and signifies national unity and strengthening the social fabric, and on this day he looks with pride at the great achievements made during the era of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
In a related context, Mohammed Jawhar Al-Muslimani, Administrative Expert at the Public Relations and Communications Department, stressed that Qatar is living its past and present on this glorious day, drawing lessons from the past to move forward into the future. The National Day is a day we look forward to every year to renew our loyalty to our wise leadership. He extended his highest congratulations and blessings to the wise leadership for the achievements and good international reputation that Qatar has achieved.
Mr. Abdul Hadi Al Majed from the Human Resources Department said: The National Day has great meanings and connotations, including the cohesion of the people and the leadership, and the solidarity and affection of the sons of the homeland. He added: It is a great day for us that everyone rejoices in, because it is a day to strengthen and highlight the Qatari identity.
