The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) celebrated Qatar National Day on Sunday. Students, teachers, and MoEHE affiliates, dressed in traditional clothing and draped with the national flag over their shoulders, marked the occasion at the MoEHE’s permanent headquarters in Al Qutaifiya.
Qatar National Day is observed on December 18 and this year’s celebration comes under the slogan ‘In love of the homeland’.
An MoEHE statement on Sunday said the celebration aims to foster the values of loyalty and belonging to the homeland among the youth on this day of pride and honour, established by the founder, the late Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, in 1878.
MoEHE Undersecretary Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi said that Qatar is observing this year’s commemoration while being the peak of its global political leadership and economic prosperity.
Dr Al Nuaimi hailed the occasion as the day of solidarity and loyalty that represents a source of inspiration for a better tomorrow, pointing to Qatar’s scientific renaissance.
Extending the highest congratulations to the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for the remarkable achievements across various fields, Dr Al Nuaimi wished the people of Qatar further prosperity and progress and the Qatari students excellence in the first semester exams of the academic year 2024-2025.
Assistant Director of Schools and Students Affairs Department Fatima Al Obaidli highlighted the MoEHE’s activities to enhance the spirit of loyalty and belonging including organising national operettas and participating in Darb Al Saai events.
On the sidelines of the celebration, there were cultural competitions, an accompanying art exhibition and an exhibition of traditional clothing.
The MoEHE affiliates expressed their pride in the National Day as an occasion boosting the national identity and highlighting the country’s development achievements.
