Caretaker Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon Najib Mikati met with Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi in Beirut on Monday.
The meeting discussed bilateral cooperation and the ways to develop it, in addition to a range of topics of mutual interest.
During the meeting, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Qatar’s firm stance regarding Lebanon and its territorial integrity, as well as Qatar’s continuous support for the Lebanese people.
Dr Khulaifi also met with Speaker of the House of Representatives of Lebanon Nabih Berri. The meeting discussed cooperation ties between the two countries and ways to bolster them, in addition to discussing efforts to address the presidential vacancy in Lebanon.
The Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasised the importance of national unity and concerted efforts among the Lebanese to overcome current challenges and support the stabilisation of the country.
Dr Khulaifi also met with the Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces General Joseph Aoun.
Discussions during the meeting dealt with cooperation relations between the two countries, the ways to support and enhance them, and a host of topics of mutual interest.
Dr Khulaifi underscored the great importance of the role of the Lebanese Army in enhancing security and stability in Lebanon, and in preserving the sovereignty of the state and the unity of its territories in light of the increasing security and political challenges facing the region.
In turn, General Aoun thanked Qatar for the continuous support it provides to Lebanon and the military institution to overcome the current circumstances.
