Qatar University (QU) concluded its National Day celebration activities, held in the open area between the College of Business and Economics building and the College of Engineering building. The event witnessed a distinguished presence of students, faculty members and the public, embodying QU’s commitment to fostering national identity and instilling values of loyalty and belonging.

The event commenced with a welcoming session, followed by recitation from the Holy Qur’an and the raising of the national flag in sync with the Qatari national anthem, which instilled a spirit of pride and belonging in the occasion. The celebrations included a traditional marine performance (Al-Naham), showcasing Qatar’s rich marine heritage, as well as two film screenings by the Doha Film Institute: The Land of Pearls and The Hidden Ball.

The activities also featured the announcement of winners in several competitions, including a video production contest titled ‘My Soul Qatar: Moments of Pride and Belonging’ and an art competition under the theme ‘Qatar in the Eye of an Artist’. Additionally, a ‘Treasure Hunt’ contest was organised, blending excitement and fun, and aimed at enhancing interaction between students and the wider community.

The celebrations concluded with words of gratitude to all participants and organisers who contributed to the success of this exceptional national event, which served as an opportunity to highlight national values and pride in Qatari identity.

On this occasion, Eatidal Al-Qatami, director of Communications and Public Relations Department at QU, stated, “The activities we organised to celebrate Qatar National Day reflect the University’s commitment to strengthening national identity and instilling the values of loyalty and belonging. These events included a variety of activities showcasing Qatar’s rich heritage, blending cultural and entertaining elements, which created a unique experience for students and community members.”

Al-Qatami added, “Through these activities, the University seeks to be a platform for celebrating national heritage and fostering a sense of unity and pride in Qatar’s legacy. The success of these events reflects the efforts made to deepen interaction between the university and the community while enhancing national spirit.”

It is worth noting that the Student Housing and Residential Life Department, in collaboration with the Transportation Department at QU, provided buses to transport male and female students from residential buildings to the National Day celebration venue on campus and back hourly. This initiative reflects the department’s commitment to facilitating the participation of resident students in this cherished national occasion, which embodies values of loyalty and belonging to the homeland.

QU’s student housing is distinguished by its rich cultural diversity, hosting students from various nationalities and educational institutions across Qatar, including QU, Lusail University, Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), the Community College, and the Education City universities. This diversity fosters cross-cultural communication and creates an ideal environment for acquaintance and mutual understanding among students, embodying the values of national unity that are prominently showcased in such occasions.
