The Ministry of Municipality (MoM), represented by the Agricultural Affairs Department and in collaboration with Hassad Food Company, has announced the inauguration of the ‘Flowers Exhibition’ at Umm Salal Central Market on Thursday. Held as part of the Umm Salal Winter Festival, the exhibition will run until December 26.

The exhibition highlights the natural diversity of Qatar by displaying a distinguished collection of local flowers and plants. It aims to support local farmers, promote the production of national flowers, enhance environmental awareness, and encourage sustainable agricultural practices.

The exhibition allows visitors to explore the beauty of local flowers and learn about their cultivation and care techniques. It also serves as a platform for marketing national agricultural products related to plants and flowers.

Yousef Khalid Al Khulaifi, director of the Agricultural Affairs Department, saidthe Flowers Exhibition aims to support local farm owners, flower nurseries, and ornamental plant growers.

The exhibition provides a vital marketing platform for their products, including various types of local vegetable seedlings and flowers, during the peak of Qatar’s agricultural season.

Mohammed Ghanem Al Kubaisi, general manager of Aswaq for Food Facilities Management Company, stated that the exhibition reflects the company’s commitment to supporting local agriculture and promoting environmental sustainability in Qatar. He highlighted that the Umm Salal Winter Festival serves as a significant platform to showcase national identity and support local products.

The festival also continues to feature the participation of productive families, in collaboration with the Family Empowerment Department at the Ministry of Social Development and Family, thereby enhancing opportunities to market their products.

The festival will host several important events and exhibitions during the period November 21, 2024 to February 19, 2025, with the aim of supporting local products, by providing a suitable marketing platform for local producers throughout the winter season.

The festival’s operational hours are divided into two sessions: a morning session from 9 am to 1 pm and an evening session from 4pm to 8pm. On Fridays, the festival will operate exclusively during the morning session, from 8am to 10am.

Umm Salal Central Market, managed by Aswaq for Food Facilities Management Company (a subsidiary of Hassad Food), spans over 60,000 square metres. Strategically located at the intersection of key highways, Al-Majd and Al-Shamal, the market is directly connected to major ports including Al-Wakra, Al-Ruwais, Al-Khor, and Doha.
