KUALA LUMPUR: Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President and Senior Vice-President of the FIFA Council Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has praised the great success of the State of Qatar in hosting the FIFA Intercontinental Cup Qatar 2024, which concluded on Wednesday with the crowning of Real Madrid as champions of the competition after defeating Mexico's Pachuca.
Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa emphasized that the Intercontinental Cup was a great success due to the wonderful organisation, the distinguished audience attendance, and the strong technical levels presented by the participating clubs. He indicated that the bright image of the tournament will be an important part of the global football legacy.
The AFC President pointed out that the success of the State of Qatar in hosting the Intercontinental Cup is a success for the entire Asia, as it enhances Qatar's position on the international football map and embodies its worthiness in hosting global football events, given its attractive environment for the largest sports tournaments, its advanced infrastructure, accumulated organizational expertise, and human competencies capable of managing the organisational process with all efficiency and competence.
He also praised the efforts of various official bodies in the State of Qatar for their pivotal roles in securing various factors for the success of hosting the tournament.
