As part of the Qatar National Sport Day celebrations, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) held diverse sports, recreational, informative and medical activities for dozens of visitors.
Its section at the Katara Cultural Village corniche was sponsored by Rayyan Water, Ghadeer Dairy, Crowne Plaza Hotel – West Bay, Colour Gallerya, Al Raed Fresh Foods Processing and Coffee Centre.
The events kicked off at 7am in a good weather and festive atmosphere, and the visitors engaged actively in QRCS’ sports matches designed for both adults and children, such as warm-up workouts, football, jumping, tele-match, and other games.
Along with QRCS staff members and volunteers, the section was visited by
Ibrahim al Maliki, executive director and Abdullah al Mulla, director of communication.
"For almost a decade, Qatar has been working to promote sports for everyone. We cherish physical activity, warm days, good health and well-being,” said Mulla. "Today, Qatar looks like ‘one big sports field’, where kids, adults, men, women, and even old persons, find a place to do something positive.”
A team of QRCS gave information to the public on how to perform first aid in case of sports injuries, as well as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults and infants. The visitors underwent vital signs tests using hi-tech medical equipment. They also attended an advising session on healthy diet.
QRCS deployed a fleet of 27 ambulance vehicles, 150 medical professionals and one first-aid unit across a wide range of festivity locations, including the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park, Doha corniche, Aspire Zone, Katara, Education City, The Pearl-Qatar, Qatar SC, Al-Arabi SC, Al-Sadd SC, Ashghal, College of the North Atlantic (CNA)-Qatar, Al-Fardan Group, Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, AFG College with the University of Aberdeen, Losail International Circuit, Doha Marine Sports Club, and Doha Festival City.
