The Qatr National Bank (QNB) and Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) yesterday signed a sponsorship agreement for this week’s Amir’s Golden Sword Championship.
The three-day show jumping event starts at QEF’s Outdoor and Indoor Arena from Thursday.
QEF President Hamad Abdulrahman al Attiyah, said. "This is a tournament that showjumping fans wait for. It is the top event on our calendar. I thank our sponsors QNB for their continued support. The country’s leadership fully backs the development in showjumping. The plan is in place to develop the sport and we thank QOC Chairman HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al Thani for leading this project.”
Al Attiyah added, "Experience is important in this kind of tournament. The winners here will get the right kind of exposure. Our young riders will be seen in action here this week and at other events in the future also.’
Salem al Nuaimi, Acting General Manager at QNB’s Group Communications, said, "On behalf of the QNB Group, we are pleased to continue our sponsorship of the championship for the third year in a row. There is clear indication that this sport is becoming popular among young Qatari riders. The young riders are getting the right kind of exposure by competing at these events.”
Badr al Darwish, Secretary-General of QEF, said, "The championship starts today and continues for three days. The final day of the competition will take place on Saturday. Our top riders Sheikh Alin bin Khalid and Bassem Hassan will also compete.”
