The first round of the Al Shaqab International Showjumping League – a qualifying event for the FEI Group Seven Championship Final for Juniors, Young Riders and Youth categories – will get underway at the state-of-the-art Longines Outdoor Arena of Al Shaqab on Friday and will see promising two days of thrilling action from promising riders.

The International League is a key part of the Al Shaqab League’s 2024-25 season, with the second round scheduled from January 2-4, 2025. The Al Shaqab League also features National League events, culminating in the Final Championship slated for May 30-31, 2025.

As part of Al Shaqab’s mission, the Al Shaqab League aims to establish a premier showjumping platform that empowers athletes of all backgrounds, particularly focusing on young riders under 25. It prepares them for elite competition while fostering confidence and sportsmanship. Al Shaqab’s vision is to nurture future champions who embody sportsmanship and excellence, further solidifying its position as a symbol of equestrian success and regional pride.

The International League will feature multiple categories tailored to various age groups in showjumping.

The local categories include Introductory Class 1 (Height 40cm); Introductory Class 2 (Height 60cm); Introductory Class 3 (Height 80cm); Small Tour (Height 110cm) and Amateurs (Height 105cm).

The international categories are as follows: Future Champions – Ages 12 to 14 (Height 105 cm - 110 cm), qualifying for the FEI Group Seven Championship Final; Junior Champions – Ages 14 to 18 (Height 115 cm - 120 cm), qualifying for the FEI Group Seven Championship Final; Youth Champions – Ages 16 to 21 (Height 125 cm - 130 cm), qualifying for the FEI Group Seven Championship Final; Al Shaqab Champions - Open Class (Height 130 cm - 135 cm) CSI1*.

Friday’s events will commence with the Introductory Class 1 (40cm) at 2 PM and conclude with the €10,000 Al Shaqab Champions (130cm) contest, scheduled to begin at 8 PM.

Registration for the inaugural Al Shaqab International League is open to both Al Shaqab Academy members and external riders.
