Qatar Airways (QA) on Friday denied reports in some media outlets outside of Qatar that passengers on its flight from Doha to Lagos, Nigeria, survived a disaster due to a technical malfunction.
In a statement on Friday, QA said the route conversion of the flight to Khartoum was preventive and routine action. Qatar Airways has stressed that passenger safety is its top priority.
The Qatar Airways flight QR1409, flying from Doha to Lagos, was subjected to a minor technical malfunction on Thursday. As a result, the flight was diverted to Khartoum and the plane landed safely. QA declared that one of its planes at Khartoum Airport was preparing to take off to Doha on flight QR1324. It was diverted to Lagos with the aim of ensuring that passengers on the QR1409 flight arrive at their destination with a delay of 3 hours and 50 minutes.
QA has called on everyone to investigate the accuracy of its news, noting that any press releases are through its own site or social networking platforms. (QNA)
