MERCURY will reach its perihelion point (nearest point to the sun)in its orbit on Monday (February 25) at 11am (Doha time); where Mercury will be at 46 million kilometres approximately from the sun’s centre,Qatar Calendar house (QCH) announced on Saturday.
Residents of Qatar have a good chance to observe Mercury for more than an hour over western horizon from sunset time (5:35pm) till the Mercury’s setting time (6:52pm), QCH’s Expert Astronomer Dr. Beshir Marzouk said.
“The best places to see and observe Mercury on Monday are the places without environment and light pulsations”, Dr Marzouk added.
According to Dr Marzouk, Mercury reaches its perihelion point every 88 days, adding that last time the cosmological phenomenon took place in November, 2018.
He said that Mercury will reach the perihelion point again on May 24 this year. (TNN)
