Venkappa Bhagavatula, a distinguished Indian resident of Qatar, was bestowed with the prestigious South Icon (Andhra Pradesh) Award during the South Indian Global Talent Achievers (SIGTA) 2024 awards ceremony held in Doha.

A testament to the extraordinary contributions made by the recipient, the recognition has placed the prominent Telugu non-resident Indian in the international spotlight. Bhagavatula has proven to be a trailblazer in his field while serving as an inspiring envoy not only for Telugu community but also to the larger Indian community in Qatar and on a global stage.

Venkappa Bhagavatula, known for his exceptional work in promoting Telugu language, arts, culture, heritage, and social services, was selected for this prestigious award based on his significant impact both in local and international community. His dedication to excellence, leadership, and commitment to advancing community service has garnered him extensive admiration.

The prestigious South Icon Award, one of the most coveted honours at the SIGTA event, is given to individuals who excel in their fields while making significant and groundbreaking contributions to their community by upholding and promoting the rich cultural heritage and ethical values of their motherland abroad as an NRI.

The ceremony, held at Al Mayasa Theatre, QNCC, a world-class venue, captivated an impressive audience of 2,500, and was attended by prominent celebrities from Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu film Industries besides influential personalities from various fields, including business, entertainment, culture, service, and social activism, who had gathered to fete the outstanding achievements of South Indian talent in Qatar.

Venkappa Bhagavatula, while expressing his gratitude, stated, “I consider receiving the ‘South Icon (Andhra Pradesh)’ award as a matter of great pride and honour. This recognition has increased my sense of responsibility further.” He extended his heartfelt thanks to the SIGTA executive committee and jury members for the prestigious award.

“This recognition is dedicated to everyone who has supported me on my journey. I dedicate this award to my family, Andhra Kala Vedika executive committee, my friends and well-wishers who inspire me, and the Telugu community in Qatar,” he added.
